April 15, 2009 Fifty-Eight, Mostly Sunny I spent about an hour walking around My House yesterday. It was such a pleasant day and I wanted to be there alone, taking my time. First I went on a hunt for the spare key that I was sure the old man had hidden outside somewhere. Wouldn't you hide a spare key outside, for those nights you came back from the casino drunk and dropped your keys in the overgrown bushes somewhere? I did not find one, though. So I walked out to my maple tree and said hello, and listened to the birds ("This place is lousy with finches!" says Marc), watched a hawk gliding around. I took a closer look at the Slag Heap over the embankment. It'll take years to clean it up. Undaunted! I thought about how lucky I am to have such easy access to this house. I can just go and hang there, and think, and decide where to put the clothesline and plant the lilacs. ******** We're off to NJ later today to stay over before our morning school show tomorrow. We're staying with some fans who are Kosher for Passover, so we can't bring certain things into the house, like grain or soy. Cool; we get to honor someone's tradition. Then I'll be back tomorrow afternoon and Eagle will be back from Tennessee. Life will appear to resume, as though it had ever changed. |
