Mid-January, Rain - January 13, 2012 |
February 23, 2008 A Bit of Saturday Two grueling days of rehearsal for the school show. We're not exactly reinventing the wheel, but we haven't done it in a year and since have added new material, so it is very much like starting over. Meanwhile we had a storm. I stay in the "basement suite" at the band's house -- a guest bedroom and bathroom off the music studio -- and in the morning I heard Carol squealing when she saw the snow. (She's a bit of a loon about snow.) My hair appointment was postponed as a result of driving conditions, so I am about to go in today to have the deed done. I'm feeling that "I don't want to go" feeling that always hugs me around the waist like a child, in the days before we have to fly out somewhere. I comfort myself by thinking about coming home to a house that's mine one day, where I build the fire in the pellet stove or throw open the summer windows, where I shovel the walk or weed the garden, walk out to get the mail, line tomatoes along the kitchen windowsill. |
