Mid-January, Rain - January 13, 2012 |
January 26, 2008 A Brief Note from Florida Band arrived intact, with some damage to a corner of the bass case. Delta printed out some paperwork that will facilitate their reimbursing us when we get a new one. Meanwhile Chris is looking for some epoxy. The bass was fine. We're at Carol's parents' "other condo," the one they lived in until they needed more medical care. They're only about 15 minutes away from here now, and her dad is in sort of a nursing home/assisted living building while her mom is at the apartment a short walk away. Carol's sister is living here temporarily to take care of dad, but she's actually been sleeping on an airbed on the floor in her dad's little room, for about 3 weeks. He has to get up in the night and she absolutely does not like the level of care he gets (or doesn't get) there, so she's on call almost all the time for him. Anyway we see her usually sometime in the early afternoon, and meanwhile Carol is mostly over there until it's time to come back and get ready for a gig and leave. She also suffered a 24-hour virus shortly after we arrived, so it's been a little harrowing for her in particular. However, we had a lovely gig last night, made a lot of new converts, saw some old fans, and loved our hosts to pieces. I ran/walked yesterday and today, getting up to 22 minutes of actual jogging within a longer walk. It's the most I've run since I had to lay off after last summer. I'm very pleased. We'll have to leave again within the hour, so must get ready. Gig tonight, gig tomorrow night, then a bit of down time as I cram for my first Celebrancy class. There seems to be a boatload of reading to do. It's warm here. Mmmmmm. |
