Like a Moth to a Pantry

Most of my musings are now going to this page on my personal website. Just can't keep everything up! So if you'd like to stop in there at any time, anyone, feel free.

There are some cool new pictures there, of our England trip, and mainly it's a bloggy spot where I write about writing and things language-related. Having said that, though, there is also a lot of the usual philosophizing about life and things and stuff.

The last couple of weeks I've been working on some songs, which has been very satisfying after a long spell of having no new song ideas. I have also embarked on a very interesting experiment with my friend Wes. We've decided to try to write songs together, and become lovers at the same time, and not tell anyone. A lot of times I find that keeping creativity in the dark makes it more vital, until the thing is ready to be unveiled. So we're having this secret affair... actually we haven't had sex yet, but we probably will and meanwhile there is a lot of kissing and fondling and talking about music and other things, and general palling around as we have done in the past few years.

So that won't go on my website blog; too many people who know me are reading that, and this is still the only place where I can talk about things I don't want most of my friends to know about.

In other news, I went shopping for a new bass today. It will be a band purchase this time. We left mine in England for next year (sorry if I said that already) and the one I put on hold has great sustain and tone, though it's heavier than the Ibanez we've been using. I don't mind but Carol might. We're rehearsing tomorrow so I said we'd all come in and try it out. It's pretty, too. That's important, of course.

I'm running consistently even though I have a little ongoing issue with my ankle; I had a great chiropractic adjustment yesterday and she found my sacro-something was locked up (in the pelvis) which might have been aggravating the ankle. Wes turned me on to this chiropractor who will do an adjustment for $20 if one has no insurance. What a blessing, and I really liked her. He finally joined the Community Center where I go, and we went together today for a workout. It was fun to have someone to go with for a change.

Meanwhile... my sister, divorced approximately one year (or less?) and SO glad to be on her own... is getting married next month. I'm dealing with the shock pretty well, and it helps that I like her intended very much. It certainly seems to have potential to be a much healthier relationship than the last one. She seems happy, stable, level-headed and quite herself.

I feel myself changing, too; I think it's been a sea change, though I didn't recognize it as such until now. Wes and I decided to embark on this unique collaboration because we both wanted more passion in our lives. He had a big breakup a couple of years ago and since then has been unable and unwilling to get deeply involved with anyone, though he's had a lover or two. Since Will, I've dated two guys but never felt really inspired in those relationships. We thought if we wrote songs, delved deep into the creative wellspring, and made love with our artists' hearts at the forefront, that it would be healing and interesting and fun and make us feel really alive. So far so good. It's an interesting new place for me to be.

In more mundane news, I found moths in my pantry tonight and cleaned it out. I also got a new digital camera, which I couldn't afford, and have been playing with that some. Rehearsal tomorrow, and the unveiling of four new songs for the band.

Pleasant night, everyone.
